Wake Up!

Understanding Carbon Monoxide Detector Issues

Public awareness about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning remains low despite several high profile cases reported in the media.

Research by WAKE UP campaigners, for example, found that almost one third of people questioned still did not know what carbon monoxide is and where it comes from.

  • 41% were unaware of the dangers it posed to their health.
  • 74% did not have a carbon monoxide detector in their home.

Clearly, the sooner a person wakes up when there is carbon monoxide in the home, the more chance they have of raising the alarm and ensuring both they and their family can safely escape from the building.
